What movie will rule the 2003 box office.

I figure Return of the King will do around $300 million.
But I'm sure there will be an unexpected movie to top that. Seems like there always is (like Spiderman did this year).

I hear they're going to be giving out free crayons when you see the Matrix, so i'll have to go with that...

I say Return of the King could easily make more than 300 million. X2 looks like it has a chance of a 300 million domestic take considering it is opening like Spider-Man did last year. The Matrix Sequels will probably do amazing and I say it has a chance of 300 million each as well.
Then the usual blockbuster's will occur...The Hulk, T3, the New Pixar flick...if they are good they will make boat loads of cash.

Easily the Matrix sequels. X2 i think will only do as well as the first. I think the Hulk is going to be a dissapointment. Return of the King will probably do as well as the Two Towers.

probably LOTR and the matrix....but it should be KILL BILL!!! I'll see it at least 10 times so I'll help out as much as I can...and for the record I hated the Matrix, so I will not be supporting this film's chances!

It's hard to say with out there even being a trailer out yet.
But unlike everyone else I'm going to say THE highest grossing movie of 2003 will be The Hulk. With Ang Lee directing you know it wil be very story driven & I just think the special effects & action will blow people away & probably end up upwards of $300 million.

Hulk won't bet that huge... it's more of a Jeckyll/Hyde meets Man vs. Inner Rage story than a classic superhero tale ala Spiderman. It'll scare the kiddies.
X2 might do $200 million if it's good, but remember the first X-men opened to $60 million and dropped HUGE AND FAST, finishing up with less than $160 million. That indicates bad word-of-mouth or lack of interest. Comparitively, Scooby-Doo had the same track record, and that had the enormous kiddie-base to go along with it.
ROTK will rule the roost, followed by the Matrix sequels. And Terminator 3 won't crack $200 million, unless it turns out to be a really awesome movie (highly doubtful).

No way, you could not be more wrong. Look this thread up at the end of summer, b/c I GARAUNTY the movie will be absolutely HUGE. And give me a break with the "scare the kiddies" theory, that sure didn't seem to hurt the very FIRST summer blockbuster of all time, hell it scared adults as well as kids.

Are the Matrix sequels rated R? if so I figure they should hit $250mil easily (at least the first one will). If they're PG13 it/they'll definitely give ROTK a run for the top at $300m+.

I figure Matrix will open beyond huge, busting out and breaking all sorts of records, there is a huuge demand for the matrix.
So I think it will be very tight between the ROTK and both Matrixiiii as they are pretty tied together I guess.
Hulk will also do well, I don't hold out too much hope for X2 breaking out and going huge,
Shanghai Knights should do well.
Also don't forget Charlies Angels 2 All the ladies like charlie
Will Smith and Marting in Bad Boys should also see north of 200 million.
And late in the year if it gets finished could see a big jump for mr cruise in The Last Samurai
I think it's going to be another real good year for movies, much entertainment in the foreseeable future

I'd say right now it's really going to be between ROTK and Matrix Reloaded. I'm going to have to give the edge to ROTK, because it's the last of the trilogy, Two Towers is going to get close to 400 million and I don't think ROTK is going to lag behind that. Matrix is going to be huge, no question, but the R rating I think will hinder it from beating ROTK. Of course, some other movie from the left field might rear its head.
