NFL2K3 for XBOX - Worth the upgrade?
I'm a casual football fan and currently own Madden 2002. Since Circuit City has Sega's NFL 2K3 for the XBOX on sale for $19.99, I'm considering an upgrade. Any thoughts? Is it worth it? I'm not interested in the online play, so improved graphics & current rosters would be my main reasons in switching.

Sure, why not at that price? There are plenty of people who have loved it since paying $50 for it back in August.
Since you're currently a "Madden guy", just be aware that 2k3 has as steep a learning curve as is probably possible in a video football game. This really holds for the passing game.
Or make that the "catching" game... the first reaction you'll have is "Why isn't anybody holding onto the ball?" Timing (throwing after 3 steps on a play designed for a 3-step drop, for instance) is the most important it's ever been in a videogame.
And knowing who your highest rated receivers are is crucial, too. On my league team, the Patriots' Troy Brown is rated 98 as a catcher and can take devastating hits immediately and hang onto the ball the majority of the time. Meanwhile, my tight end crew needs to have no defender in the same zip code to haul a pass in. The slightest contact before they get two strides in after "making" the catch, and it's a sure incompletion.

For that price, I say go for it.
I'd been a long time Madden guy but this year I switched to NFL 2k3 and I don't regret it at all.
And I do agree with the previous post about there being a learning curve because there definitely is. It's also a game that requires a good bit of strategy to be successful.
I personally love the graphics, presentation and audio.
It has its quirks --- but for 20 bucks it's a no brainer....

I got it at Circuit City for $20 earlier this year, and I don't regret it at all. Mr.snowmizer's post has a lot of info I wish I had known earlier, but you pick it up as you go along. It's a really good game, and at a great price. I'd say get it.

Edit: err, last year.

I was a hardcore madden fan. I bought NFL2k3 about a month ago. After a little help from dvdtalk members i got over the learning curve and love this game. This game is well worth 20 bucks.
