What is the best Paul McCartney CD?
I need to pick one of his up, but I would like a "best of" type of cd. And I hate "live" albums (with the obvious exception of Jimmy Buffet).
So, what would be the best way to go?

Yeah, wingspan is the best collection, and isn't a lot more than the greatest hits album.
If you want The Beatles stuff, buy "1", which is on sale for $9.99 at Best Buy, I think.
BTW the "Best" Paul Maccartney album ever (excluding Beatles albums, of course) is this release
That's the Band on the Run SE release with a bonus "documentary" on the album's making. Fantastic album, great sound, interesting bonus stuff. A supurb package for interested fans.

I actually think I'm starting to like the "Back In The USA" album better than "Wingspan," which just has too much of the sappy ballads for me. "USA" has a nice combination of Beatles/solo tunes and it's deifnitely the best live album Macca has put out. And of course if you don't already have "Beatles 1" in your collection (or if you're an obsessive like me, all their albums instead) there is no hope for humanity.

The one GuessWho suggested doesn't have Maybe I'm Amazed on it. It is, in my opinion, one of the best love songs ever written.
RAM is good.
Flaming Pie is also good. (Though the lyrics are very, very dirty.)
I'd also check out the CD and/or DVD of his recent Driving USA/Back in the US tour. I went to the latter (basically the same as the first, with the exception of a few songs) and it was VERY VERY good.

Rypro pretty much has it right there. If you want a good "overview" of his solo work Wingspan is probably your best bet.
Flowers In The Dirt is really good. So is Flaming Pie. This past album Driving Rain is good too.
Band on The Run is definitley the BEST of his solo work.
