New casting rumor for Rattner's Superman movie

From Supermanhomepage

SuperHeroHype has posted another casting rumor regarding the up-coming Superman movie.
According to their source, Australian actor "Ryan Kwanten" has been approached by Brett Ratner to play the leading role in the film.

The 26 year old actor/model/writer is best known to Australians as "Vinnie" on the TV show "Home and Away". Since leaving the show Ryan has been busy writing and directing in his own film production company.

Kwanten's film credits include The Junction Boys, Liquid Bridge, The Characters, Sticky Bang!, Flashcard Conscience, Buddha and Signal One. He has also appeared in several Australian television series, including "Home and Away," "A Country Practice," "Echo Point," "Hey Dad" and "Twenty Four Seven."
I dunno about this...He sure doesn't look like it in that pic...

Well, WB is making the movie and they own DC comics, so it will probably be a WB type of Superman.

Oh, wait, WB network, yeah, that could suck.

And we have a new candidate:

From Supermanhomepage:

A report at the 4Filmmakers website seems to indicate that their sources tell them that Canadian actor Victor Webster has been cast in the lead role in the up-coming Superman movie.
The 30 year old actor is best known for his starring role in the syndicated TV series, Mutant X. Born "Kevin Christopher Andres" and standing 6'3", Webster's representatives at the Agency for the Performing Arts refused to comment on the matter when contacted by the IGN FilmForce website.

According to the official Mutant X site, the Calgary-born thesp has worked as a model, "earned his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and has an undefeated record as an amateur kickboxer." Webster's other TV credits include Days of Our Lives, Sunset Beach, The Lot and the telepic The Chippendale Murders. He has also appeared in such films as Wishmaster 4: The Prophecy Fulfilled and the upcoming comedy Bringing Down the House.

This is an unconfirmed rumor at this point in time... So like all other rumors we've reported on... Hold tight until we get an official announcement from Warner Bros.

He looks..sorta like Clark / Supes...However, I say screw it and get Dean Cain. At least he has done the role before.. Then again, I think this movie is doomed, so what do I know?

Tom Welling is 26 sign him up or Dean Cain. It looks like they are trying to get pretty boys who can't act. If you get a pretty boy at least get one who has played Superman before.

Do you think they'll keep the 3 directives from former producer Jon Peters?

1. Don't wanna see him in the suit.

2. Don't wanna see him fly.

3. Must fight giant spider in the third act.

Here's a "less hunky" pic of the latest candidate:

Still looks like a pretty boy but a little work and he may be able to pull off Clark.

Geeze, the more I see and hear, the more despondent I become. I'm convinced Crapner and Warner Brothers have absolutely no understanding of why a legendary character like Superman endures 65 years after its creation. They just want to crank out a "franchise" because "Hey! That Spiderman flick made $800mil worldwide! We got any fruits in longjohns we can exploit?... What....? DC who?!?!" I'd crap on my laptop to get filmmakers with both vision and respect for the character onto this project.

Brett Ratner... *blerg*

Hehe. Let's just throw another log into this fire:

From Latinoreview

Usually I wouldn't do this because I've seen other sites crash and burn, but you have to take risks right? Well a few weeks back while all the other sites were reporting that Brett Ratner wasn't directing SUPERMAN, someone in the know knew for a fact that the rumors that were flying all over the net was ********, but I didn't believe that person. This is what I was told back then "I'm telling you this first!! Trust me when I tell you that Brett is still doing SUPERMAN I'm 99% on it, I'm telling you this cause we're Latinos and we have to look out for each other." So of course I took it with a grain of salt and soon enough VARIETY had to be the first to say that Brett Ratner is indeed still directing SUPERMAN.

We all know who the contenders were, Josh Hartnett, Jude Law, Brendan Fraser, Ashton Kutcher and Mutant X star Victor Webster. But no one knows who has won the part until NOW!!

Got this information a little while ago and folks this as reliable as it gets.

"I want you to have this Exclusive information. TRUST ME on this. Apparently Brett Ratner is casting the role for the man of steel here in NYC, when all of a sudden who shows up but JOSH HARTNETT. Brett was amazed by his performance. Apparently impressed to the point where it's 99% certain that he will be the next man of steel!"

So there you have it, hopefully this will be the end of who is going to take our minds off of Christopher Reeves as the man of steel, however, I just can't see this cat playing Superman. But hey that's what they said about Michael Keaton playing Batman and he turned out to be the best Batman ever. So you got to give Josh a chance.

So could it be that we will soon see wartime PEARL HARBOR and BLACK HAWK DOWN hero donning the "S"? It seems like yesterday; when Brett Ratner told me that he was directing Superman during the press junket for RED DRAGON, and we reported it first and then of course the studio went on to confirm it. Stay tuned for either the studio or one of the big cats like Variety or Hollywood Reporter to announce it. But remember! You heard it here first!

Now I hope I don't crash and burn for this.
Bleargh. I'm gonna gag. Ack.
