Need Help Identifying Song [early-to-mid 90s, alternative]

Some background.

Back in 1993 or 94 my then-manager recorded a two-hour block of the Saturday Night Alternative Beat on Q-101 out of Chicago...I guess they used to do this every Sat night from like midnight-4am. Anyway, one of the songs on there blew me away and I tried desparatley to find out who sang it. I went so far as to take the tape into a record store in Bloomington, IN and played the song hoping someone there knew who it was.

So...after years of searching in vain, you all are my last resort.
Here is the chorus...I think:

All I wanna do, is live like kings do.
And all I wanna be, is smarter than my enemy.
And all I wanna have is everything I haven't got.
And all I wanna take, is everything I haven't made

This is the best I can do from memory, because the tape has long been lost in a move

Other lines I can vaguely remember:

Step outside I'll give you everything.
There are TV screens, amid the perfect scenes.

Basically, I'll go crazy if I never find out who sang this song. I know it's not much...but I'm hoping this strikes a chord with someone!!

ctyner you sound confident...I hope you're correct!

I have looked all over the internet and can find no links to lyrics. Have you seen anyting out there on a site I may have missed? From the looks of it this wil be a tough find (nothing on Kazaa) so if I'm going to spend the $$ ordering online I want to be 100% sure.

Since it only took about 5 minutes for someone to find it on here, this probably should have been your first resort. At least you know where to come from now on.

Thanks for the help, guys.

I have an artist and a title now, which is more than I've ever had.
Now I'll have to figure out a way to track this music down.

So true.

I actually gave up on this some time ago and only thought about it again because I'm making a couple CDs consisting of songs from my college years. I'm at the point where I need another 5 or 6 songs so I was trying to think of some obscure favorites and this one popped into my head again.

Of course in the future there is no doubt where I'll turn
