It looks like this is the one to get...

I can't seem to find it any cheaper than the £14.99 Play.com is selling it for.

Play don’t ship to the States. Your options are either www.blackstar.co.uk www.amazon.co.uk www.bensonsworld.co.uk or www.mvc.co.uk

I assume this version blows apart the R1 version.

Yes it does, the US version has only the features from the first disc and is missing some of the most cool extras.

Region 1 Features:
  • Audio Commentary with Steve Coogan and Producer Andrew Eaton
  • Audio Commentary with Tony Wilson
  • 2 Featurettes
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Photo Gallery
  • Original Theatrical Trailer

Also we get a very crappy US cover: here is the comparison:
'

Come on, were tongue rings even around when this movies story actually takes place (late 70's to early 90s)? The answer in no! If there was a tablet of ecstasy on the end of the tongue it would be more fitting to the story, but then again that would upset quite a few people.

A question:
If I buy the region2 disc, will I be able to watch it on my PC via my DVD-ROM drive? how about on a region free dvd player? Even though it's PAL, will a region free DVD player be able to play it?

EDIT: I already found the answer to this : Here

Sorry, but (crappy cover aside) the R1 doesn't look all that bad.
So exactly which "cool extras" are available on the R2 that aren't on the R1? Not all that much, it seems...

I would also like to ask the same question, what wonderful and marvelous things are on the R2 disc that us R1 people don't get? The deleted scenes? The music video? According to the Amazon.com.UK website:

"On the DVD: 24 Hour Party People comes as a two-disc set, but there really is little need. Disc 1 is loaded with great extras, such as the deleted scenes, commentaries and Mad-chester musings, but the second disc is a little on the dull side. This really could have been just a single great DVD. There's an excellent screen and audio transfer that brings both the music and the lurid colours to life and the disc also offers that all-important function for hardcore clubbers: a hard of hearing option. Personally speaking a commentary from artists who were there together with a gallery of Saville’s legendary cover designs (together with commentary) is reason enough alone to buy the disc - Neither of which are on the R1 version.

Gathering from the review from DVDFile, it also looks like the Region 1 edition only has 11 deleted scenes and not the 24 listed for the Region 2 edition.

Apparently this was shot on DV. Anyone knows at what FPS (24, 25)? Has the digital transfer been done from the DV material or from a film negative?

I ask because Tadpole was also shot on PAL DV and the R1 DVD apparently has some artifacts as a consequence.
