Any known remedies for sick GBA games?

I was going to make a trade with a fellow DVDTalker, so I popped the game into the GBA and turned it on to wipe the memory...

Then the startup screen played (ie, "Gameboy" appears on the screen), then it plays about 5 secs of the intro and then begins to stick and studder... so I turn it off. So I try it again and then the startup plays, the intro get further and then sticks and studders again... so I press start and it takes me to the menu screen where it plays for a second and then sticks and studders and gets all "artifacty" (for lack of a better word).

What's wrong with it? Does it need to be cleaned? All my other GBA games work fine (and I've tried 4 of my 10).

Any ideas...?

(BTW, I haven't played the game for about 4 months.)
