DVD Player that plays VCDs?

I was wondering if there were any DVD players out there that will play VCDs burnt on CDRs? I'm not trying to spend a lot of money as this would be a second player, but I would like to watch VCDs on my TV and my current player doesn't do that. I'm sorry if this is a repeat thread, but search won't look at anything less that 4 characters.

Visit www.vcdhelp.com. There you can search a database of players for a machine to fit your needs. Lots of players in the $75-$150 range will play CD-R, CD-RWs, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW discs.

All Apex players can play vcds. They're usually at Wal Mart for less than $90.00

There are plenty of them out there. It should either say on the box or in the manual what kind of discs are playable on the machine.

generally speaking, all of them do really. anything in the last year should have no problems. Panasonics tend to support the most formats.

Does the Panasonic RV32 play VCD/SVCDs? According to VCDhelp and some other websites it does, but it doesn't say anything on the box.

VCD Support

Here is a copy from the Panasonic site listing of the RV-32:

Playable Disc Type DVD-Video, DVD-R, Video CD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW

You can check it out at http://www.prodcat.panasonic.com/sho...goryid=%202977

I bought this player for exactly the same reasons.

Edit: Almost forgot, until March 31, 2003 there is a $20 Panasonic rebate on the RV-32:

Yeah, i was thinking about picking up the Panasonic RV32 because it is supposed to play everything and it has a good rating. I have some SVCDs burnt that I really want to see on my TV here soon. I'm hoping to find a good deal on one after christmas. Thanks everyone for there help.

Pioneer also. The early Toshibas did not.

Surprisingly, I found the best price for the RV-32 at Sears using their frequent 10% off sales:

$119.99 minus $11.99=$108.00 minus $20 rebate=$88.00 plus tax.
