How come "Minority Report" being released on R2 two weeks prior to R1?

Dont know if this has been covered before...

I 've never seen this happening before, especially with such a major movie.

any ideas? just curious.

Funny, because there is a scene in Remains of the Day where Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins argue over a porcelain statue that has been moved out of its proper place. That's what I was thinking of.
