Questions regarding Panasonic DMR-HS2 v. Toshiba RD-X2
Well, I've decided to buy a DVD Recorder/PVR hybrid and these are the two models I'm considering. From what I understand, the Panasonic is progressive while the Toshiba is not, but this isn't a big deal for me. What I do wonder about are the following:
-The Toshiba is much more expensive. Is it worth it for a HDD of twice the size (80 gig versus 40 gig)?
-The Panasonic has the black level problems when recording on DVD-R. Is this a HUGE problem, especially to a non-discerning eye? If and when Panasonic acknowledges this problem, can it be fixed by a firmware upgrade?
-I've read explicitly that you can use the Toshiba to record back and forth from the HDD to DVD-Ram without in quality loss. Can this be done with the Panasonic, too? (I assume it can, but you never know.)
-Does anybody have any other insight?
Thanks!

I guess the prices are not really that different. eCost has the RD-X2 for $789 which is about the same as the Panasonic. This is still not an easy decision, though, so thanks for any help or advice you can give me!

I can answer two questions:
I had the panasonic...and the Toshiba has the same black level problem. It's a big pain the butt. I hated it and it was the reason why I returned it.
Yes, you can record on the Panasonic losslessly to RAM but not to R.
