Empire

I saw this movie last night and it was pretty good. The trailer is misleading, because it leads you to believe that most of the movie is about Leguizamo's character chasing down the guy who ripped him off, but that doesn't even happen until about the last 30 minutes of the movie. The movie is more about one man's life and how moving out of the ghetto affects him.

Well I thought the movie was about his life as a "king". I wasn't expecting the rip off to even happen til half way through the movie.

Anyway, how was the film? I'm kinda interested.

I wasn't too interested in the flick, but the oppurtunity to see the flick "presented" itself (and no theater staff was around) so I went ahead and saw it.

I thought it was going to be mostly about the rip-off, but thankfully its not. It's a more of a personal film about life, death, and redemption, and the choices we make in life.

I came away really impressed with the flick. A comparison to Goodfellas is almost warranted, but to burden this movie with a comparison to a masterpiece would be unfair. But if you appreciate good crime films, you owe it to yourself to go see this movie.
