I'm plenty pissed about the movies that are out right now

Look at what I have to choose from at my local multiplex:

The Santa Clause 2: Never in a million years

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Not interested

Empire: Garbage

My Big Fat Greek Wedding: I saw this like 8 Months ago, enough already

They: Never in a million years

Far From Heaven: Saw it all ready

Extreme Ops: Never in a million years

Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights Garbage

They're F***ing joking right? Isn't this the holiday season? Where are the good movies? This is just trash. This is like b-Movie hell descended upon the first run multiplex. Where are the good holiday movies? Added to these 6 pieces of dung were the heavily anticipated, uterly awful 8 Mile, Solaris, Treasure Planet, and that crappy bond movie.

I love to hunt down independent films, but I'm running out of ones to see. Doesn't hollywood have a single good movie up it's sleave? All the "Big Thanksgiving Weekend" movies sucked.

Thank you for listening to my rant

PS. I know that Hollywood owns you big time for watching so many of their movies, but they have contacted me and said they will make more movies to your liking next year.

Thought I'd get in before the thread is moved. The only one I saw was Santa Clause 2 and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't as bad as nearly all sequals are. If you want a family film this time of year, go see it. If you want all action/no plot, see Die Another Day.

How about the James Bond movie that just came out? Lord of the Rings: TTT will be out soon. The new Harry Potter movie was pretty good. I'm also looking forward to Star Trek: Nemesis.

Good thing you are not forced to go to the movies by anyone.. then you would be in big trouble because sitting in a movie watching something for two hours is sooo much more horrorable then sitting infront of your computer for two hours posting your complaints about movies now.

Solaris is not awful. It's just that today's moronic Middle-American audiences simply lack the attention-span and patience to appreciate a film like it. It's like most people today actually get offended at the thought of films actually asking them to think about what is occuring onscreen: "What..you mean I have to figure out what's going on? How DARE THEY?!??" It truly depresses me that people are still so unwilling to open their minds to REAL science-fiction stories, or films like Solaris which simply uses it as a context, unless it's got action in it: ie. The Matrix, Minority Report. Gattaca, Blade Runner, Dark City, 12 Monkeys......these are terrific sci-fi stories and yet I've heard the same comments from people walking out of the theatre from each of them: "Man, that was so slooow!" "How confusing" "I hate science-fiction like that!!"(no doubt a Star Wars fan). Depressing.

two towers... all the way... probably the only movie this year that i won't be disappointed w/.

james bond? imo, crap
harry potter? decent
star trek nemesis? um, is it an even number?
solaris? unknown

how about equilibrium? i have very low expectations for it so i'll probably be pleasantly suprised.

In my opinion every movie directed by Steven Soderbergh is a snooze-fest. I have no doubt that Solaris will join his other movies in rocking audiences to sleep (for those brave enough to buy a ticket).

Pants...I completely agree with you. This is the worst holiday season I can remember. Other than The Two Towers, there is nothing I care to see. I had hopes for Gangs of New York & Catch Me If You Can until I saw the trailers. The trailers made me lose any interest I had even with the "hollywood priase" leaking out. I have seen Die Another Day which was the first movie I have seen in the theater in months. I have some free passes that I have to use by the end of the year & it is going to be tough to use them.

Die Another Day was a good action feast for the eyes kinda deal. So if you want just 'fun' then go see that. Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers is going to kick all of your asses all over this place Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets was a good movie. The Santa Claus 2 is the only real 'holiday' movie out right now that may be semi-decent. I heard that Adam Sandler movie was one of the worst movies ever. Also if you haven't already seen it, yes, the ring is very good. But I must agree...the quality of movies is declining year after year. But so goes the same with television...

I thought that The Santa Clause 2 wasn't bad at all. Not the best Christmas movie ever, but enjoyable nonetheless. But if you're not going to give it a chance, you're not going to give it a chance.

I fear we are currently in the limbo state where Hollywood is saving its big guns/Oscar contender movies for the time most people will be on holiday. Indies are out there, but you kind of have to drive to a major city to catch them at this point.

Have you seen Empire yet? If you haven't seen it, don't trash it. It's someone's work. You might be surprised, you might like it.

The only ones I'd be interested in seeing is the Santa Clause 2 and the Adam Sandler cartoon one. Otherwise, no interest.
