Zulu - R2 - some thoughts
Well I just got the R2 edition of Zulu (Paramount's version) and just got a brief look at the DVD. Nice presentation - comes in a slipcase with Michael Caine's picture on it. Having bought two bargain basement (read: crappy) R1 DVDs I thought I'd splurge the $25.50 or so to get the "Official" edition from the studio. From what I can see the wait was well worth it. Colors are crisp and vibrant, and the picture is sharp too. Granted, I haven't seen much of this DVD but I feel it already beats hands down what's in region 1 right now - least until Paramount decides to release an R1 version here (if they haven't already). Can't wait to give this disc a test drive - one of my favorite films.

I bought the R2 version fron Benson's World. I agree that the presentation is very nice. The Reds are great. Makes my old Criterion LD look muted by comparison. I have only one small complaint, some sites prior to release indicated that the audio track would be 5.1. Alas it turned out to be 2.0.
