DVD Empire's Free Shipping Reverts Back to Media Mail
Just a note to those of you who may have orders at DVD Empire. A few months back, they prominently announced their decision to do away with the use of media mail as their standard mail service due to performance issues.
Afterwards, I placed my first order with them and was very pleased with the prompt delivery. I had my 2nd order ship out on December 2nd. Having accessed their shipping info page again a few days ago, I now noted the disappearance of the cessation of media mail message. Upon e-mailing them, they confirmed that their standard shipping (including the free shipping for 4 items) had reverted back to media mail, though with a tracking number.
At the time I placed my order, the shipping page noted that they no longer used media mail. By the time it shipped, they had changed policies WITHOUT INFORMING ME. They did not give me the opportunity to either cancel my order or upgrade my shipping. Therefore, my order will likely NOT reach me before Christmas. (Media mail takes 4 - 6 weeks to Hawaii.) I find this VERY irresponsible on their part. (And I had hoped to view "Black Christmas" BEFORE Christmas!)
Just a note to those of you with orders placed that you may need to upgrade your shipping method to Priority Mail for any orders you need before Christmas, depending on the delivery time of media mail to your area.

I had this happen to me on a recent order. I was never notified or informed of the shipping change. I expected delivery in 3 days but my order never arrived until 11 days later. You are correct they are using media mail with delivery confirmation now. I wasn't in a hurry to receive the DVDs ordered but it would have been nice if they informed their customers of the change.

I confirm this. Last October my free shipping came with Priority mail but then last month it was media mail. They probably reverted to media mail because of the coupon on top free shipping.
