Pulp Fiction - what's in the briefcase?

It is a safe assumption that there is neither a right nor wrong answer to this question - only your informed opinion.

That said, what do you think is the glowing light in the briefcase?

-Marsalis Wallace's soul?
-Shiny gold coins?
-The Holy Grail?
-The Lost Ark?

?

This discussion always amazes me. We know there is no answer; Tarantino said it himself. Yet we rack our brains trying to figure it out. It's like saying "There's no answer to this, but what's the answer?". It's 100% pure McGuffin.

You are right that there is no right or wrong answer, but there also isn't an informed opinion. Because there is no information about it. In the movie, all they say about the breifcase is that its very important. In interviews, Tarentino has said that there is no answer.

So if I say that in the briefcase is the final script for Episode III and that would be as informed as saying that its gold or Marcellus Wallaces soul.

You are correct. There is no valid information given to us to make an informed opinion. Guess I just phrased it that way for whatever reason...

You should listen to the commentary on the SE ( If he put one on and see if anything is mentioned particularly during the scene when the yellow reflection is seen.

I believe he meant the text commentary...if I remember correctly, it points out some of the reasons for the "wallace's soul" answer to the question (which is my personal favorite answer).
