Spielberg plans Tintin movie

i liked how they did asterix. one of the funniest movies i've seen from a cartoon to live action transfer. i don't know how speilberg plans to approach this beloved character but all signs point to yes!

Interesting idea.
I had several of the Tintin books when I was a pre-teenager. I think I still have a copy of The red Sea Sharks lying around somewhere...

What do you mean? The cartoon series from Nelvana translated practically every book in the series into toon form.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this. Adventure flicks are big again. I hope he maintains the 30s/40s stylized world of Tintin, giving it an Indiana Jones feel. I read somewhere that some elements from Spielberg's failed first attempt at Tintin were used on Indiana Jones.

No, you were just not in a French speaking country.
ipkevin, really? where I live I only was played the same damn four episodes over and over and over again. That show ruled though, even if Tintin's voice was a bit girly... but look at him, he's no tough dude, that's why he's cool. He's just a reporter.. who can kick ass!

That's a good point... they do have a very Europian feel to them that Speilberg would be hard pressed to match.

Shame things can't work out the way we always want them too.

The guy who directed the latest Bourne Identity movie is pretty good. He achieved a nice European feel with that movie, and it's the same guy who did Go if I'm not mistaken, so he's pretty versatile.
Ehh.... either way it should be a movie to look forward to.

Yes, he just wrote it. Which is why I said I like all his films meaning only the ones he's directed and written. The ones he's just written, I've not seen (like Taxi) or thought were crap (like Transporter) but even in something like Transporter, I could see a hint of good in it... and it had some good lines.

They should call it Tintin Extreme and have Vin Diesel in the title role. Snowy would become a bull terrier, and (assuming it takes a couple years to get this off the ground) the Thompson twins could be played by eighteen year old Mary-Kate and Ashley looking to rid themselves of their squeeky clean image.

This post doesn't deserve it's own thread, and so I'll just revive this old one.
If ever they make a Tintin movie, this guy should play Captain Haddock

What about the Tinsfins movie with Kid and Play?
I wonder if Speilberg is going to direct or merely just produce. It doesn't seem like a Speilberg directorial project to me.

My dream TinTin movie is directed by Wes Anderson, starring Robert DeNiro as Captain Haddock, Leonardo DiCaprio as TinTin, Roberto Benigni as Professor Calculus, and Rowan Atkinson as Detectives Thomson and Thompson.
Low Budget approach would be same director, Christopher Meloni as Haddock, Gregory Smith(from Everwood) as TinTin, Benigni and Atkinson would stay the same.
