Goldeneye-inside joke?
When Bond meets Jack Wade of the CIA (Where he shows him the rose tatoo). Wade says, "bond? you ever do any gardening?" and then the scene ends.
I cant find the reference for that joke in any bond movie. Does anyone get it?

good question. I asked this one a few years back.
The answer I got from a Brit was that there is a "bond" gardener who is well known...i think...something along those lines. It's inside Brit joke.

Then how would Wade know??? over here we know nothing about the British, sad to say!
I can recall a few other spy books had spys mascurading as Gardeners, or Tailors, or something simple like that. But I doubt it's related.

There is a James Bond who wrote a book on birds of the west indies.

The story goes that Ian Fleming (who lived in Jamaica) used the name because it sounded good.

Perhaps it's in reference to the transfer of the "duties" of writing James Bond novels from Ian Fleming (upon his death) to John Gardner. I believe Raymond Benson writes them now.

what fanboy said would be cool, if it's true. Because it could be basically saying that this bond has a new style, like Gardner writes the books differently (assuming he does).
