Brilliant, But Cancelled:
Anchoring the month of programming will be the premiere of Brilliant, But Cancelled, a 90-minute original documentary, narrated by Andy Richter (Fox's Andy Richter Controls The Universe and former Conan O'Brien sidekick), that examines those remarkable and critically acclaimed programs that "got the ax" and left ardent viewers to wonder what might have been. Produced by World of Wonder, this special highlights programs that died before their time and explores the question "Why did they fail?" The documentary also delves into dusty vaults and tape libraries to uncover never-before-seen rarities from Hollywood's hottest producers. Interviews featured include: Aaron Spelling, Garry Marshall, Warren Littlefield, James Earl Jones, Darren Star, Bernie Brillstein, Larry Gelbart, and Bruce Paltrow's last interview. (Premieres: Sunday, December 8 at 9:00 pm ET/ 6:00 pm PT.)
Very cool. Even though Trio is a subsidiary of Vivendi, they air some really good programming from time to time. A few weeks ago, they did a whole section on censorship in the popular arts, and it was very well done. Thanks for the head's up - I look forward to this.

That documentary better include EZ Streets and Freaks and Geeks - both brilliant, yet cancelled shows.

AH! Face Time is scary, make that back screen stop. I like the people being interviewed, but the host and back screen sure do hurt this show.

I was pretty disappointed they aren't airing any of my favorite cancelled shows like Relativity, Police Squad, and EZ Streets. I think they might include some of my favorites in their documentary though, considering when I went to their website they had a big image of the best show ever cancelled, My So-Called Life.

Disappointing that they won't be showing the pilot, though.

I'll be damned. There it is ... plain as day. I was going through my TiVo last night and was disppointed to see them starting with 'The Hero' - didn't think to look that far ahead. Thanks for the head's up.

Just found out that I had this channel the other day.

Spent the weekend watching Profit, Action, Robert Altman's Gun and a young George C. Scott in East Side/West Side.

Great channel!

It's taken some effort with their scheduling, but I think I was able to successfully record everything they aired. They have, by far, the most annoying bug of any channel, but considering they had a very low budget, they did a pretty good job with this BBC thing. And while I hated that stupid "face" thing, it was great to get some interviews with Hunt, Starr, and Moonves where the subject is show cancellations and network cowardice. I've always respected Moonves for showing patience and allowing his programs to gain an audience -- it's why CBS is spanking ABC right now, even though ABC has had more quality shows in the last 10 years -- and I enjoyed hearing Hunt and Starr speak so frankly and openly about how network decisions are motivated by fear.
