What's Missing from the Vice City soundtrack?
The soundtrack is okay I guess... it has alot of classic songs and a halfway decent collection, but it's still not very complete in my opinion. Where's the Cure, the Smiths, Bauhaus, The Clash, Joy Division, and Prince? I think they really dropped the ball here when they could've made it really cool instead of just okay. I'm sure it had to do with copyrights and such, but then how the hell did they get Michael Jackson on there?
So I'll list some songs I think should've been included and you can agree or disagree or add songs to the list that you think would have been essential listening... it doesn't even have to be songs that you liked, just songs that would've been appropriate for that time. What's the point?... well, just cuz I wanna see if my choices would've been better or if it's just me and people prefer the soundtrack the way it is. I mean, I like alot of the songs from the current soundtrack and I'd include them too - but some of them just shouldn't be there. The year was 1986 and I think all of these fall within that time or before...
Wham - Wake Me Up Before you Go Go
Depeche Mode - People are People
The Clash - London Calling & Rock the Casbah
Prince - When Doves Cry
Madness - Our House
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Bon Jovi - Livin On a Prayer
The Cure - Love Cats & Standing on a Beach
Information Society - Pure Energy
Yellow - Oh Yeah
Suzie Q - Two Of Hearts
Violent Femmes - Add it Up
Beastie Boys - FIght for your Right to Party & Girls
Madonna - Like a Virgin
Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK
Fear - Let's Have a War
Fishbone - Party at Ground Zero
Cindy Lauper - Time after Time
Other stuff I can't remember either the band name or the song title...
Heart - song
band - Total Eclipse of the Heart
Blah - more later...

I believe they made a deal with Epic for the soundtrack and were probably limited to their catalog of songs. It would have been cool for some other eighties stuff. I would have liked to hear some Metallica and Queensryche on the Rock station.

I agree the ST is good but it could have been much better
Phil Collins- In the Air of the Night; I really need this song to drive to when I'm driving at night not on a mission just cruisin looking for hidden packages and stuff
Prince- Little Red Corvette
???- That I always feel like somebodies watchin' me song
N.W.A -F*** tha Police; I know it would never happen but would be Perfect for a high speed chase w/4-6 stars

Oh yeah - the Police - that would've been perfect. Well, so what bands are on Epic that they missed? That was a pretty major label... Depeche Mode and all those mod bands were on Sire or Reprise I think... what major label were those labels under? Probably Warner.

The artist you are trying to name would be Rockwell (featuring Michael Jackson on backing vocals)

I find it odd that in one of the cut scenes you can hear "In A Big Country" by Big Country but the song is nowhere on any of the radio stations. Too bad too as that song is great. Making guitars sound like bagpipes is quite cool.

Good music?
I can't stand 80's music or the whole pop culture of the decade in general, one of the reasons (in addition to not thinking GTA3 was all that) that I passed on VC.
Maybe if they'd put an 80's punk soundtrack on it with some Bad Religion, Minor Threat, etc. I'd have been more interested.

I just read the article in EGM and it stated they got their music with Sony's Epic records. So I guess that's how they got Michael Jackson, and missed out on the other 80's classics.
