Help I just bought a PS2!!!

I love playing Doom on my computer, unfortunately I don't think it's a PS2 game as of yet...can anyone tell me what game is the most similar and as good as Doom that I can buy for the PS2? I know there are a lot of knock offs...some where you kill monsters, aliens, etc. Which game for the PS2 has the best graphics and is violent as hell and feels like Doom?

Shoot-em-up games like Doom: TimeSplitters 2, Half-Life, Quake III, Tribes, Unreal

Games that are violent as hell: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Max Payne, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, BloodRayne

Maybe you'd like Contra: Shattered Soldier if you're really into throwbacks.

Medal of Honor: Frontline is a great first person shooter. Red Faction and Red Faction II are also a lot of fun.

In my opinion. Medal of Honor Frontline and TimeSplitters 2 are by far the best FPS' on the PS2.

You could always go buy the PS1 versions of Doom, they work on PS2 . Of course they'll look like crap compared to today's graphics.

You can't go wrong with Half-Life or Red Faction. They've been out a while and both can be had for less than $20 each. If you have a widescreen TV or a WEGA with 16x9 mode, both games have this option and look great this way.

TimeSplitters 2 looks great, but I'm a total cheapskate. When it drops to $20 it's mine
