Why do you like movies so much?
For me it's 2 reasons that I can think of.
!) It's kind of like owning a whole world onto itself.
and
2) Escape from the real worls for a while.
What's your reason?

Yes, # 2 on your list is my primary reason, although I do not prefer pure escapist entertainment. I prefer films containing real emotions. One can say that I like intelligent, sad films.
But honestly, I am not so sure I am happy at this... If I watch 24 movies in a month, that's about 2 full days staring at a screen escaping from reality.. How do people deal with this?

If I didn't find movie entertaining, I wouldn't keep going back so many times. It is like escaping your own world of cubicles and staff meetings for a couple hours and entering this world which is so much quirkier, exciting, and colorful than your own.

Escapism is a big reason for watching movies. Sometimes I get so stressed with my real life, it's nice to be able to take a break from this reality for a couple of hours.

Movies are a collective dream.
They produce emotions in people only rivaled by music and real experiences.
They are the most potent artform ever devised (at their height). They are also, historically, the newest of all major arts.
And they're fun.

When I get tired of listening to my wife talk, I can pop in a movie and say, "Shhhh! There's a movie on."
Works like a charm.

A few reasons come to mind:
Escapism and entertainment for sure. To go above and beyond that, the fact that I am able to enter someone's 'world' or 'life' without any of the consequences is a reason. As is the fact that I can put my life on hold for a while and be intrigued about someone else's.
Lastly, I believe that a good film is art. In this case, I often find films beautiful in their own, original ways.

Film is, by far, my favourite art form. I think that's because film can really encompass aspects of almost all other art forms.
Think about it: you've got acting (dramatic art), cinematography (visual art), plot (literature), music, and so on.

Movies can take you to places you'll probably never go to and do things you'll probably never be able to. Total escapism from our mundane lives (applicable in my case, at least! )

I have three reasons for liking the movie format:
1) Movies are able to reveal a truth in life in a way that I have not seen before or thought about before.
2) Movies can evoke powerful emotions on many different levels.
3) Movies can take you out of your reality for a mere two hours and keep you engaged with a good story and entertaining visuals.
