the Halle Berry show.

I realize that sex sells, blah blah blah...black female oscar winner, blah blah blah...but, c'mon. Enough's enough.

I understand the movie hasn't come out yet. I'm just venting over the ridiculous amount of attention paid to her in the current ads. [I'm sure i'll feel this way if it happens for X-Men II also...]

Well, this is what happens when you have a big name actress as the bond girl. Personally, I like quirkly no-name actresses to be Bond girls as they seem to do a better job. We shall see though...

Exactly.

Someone well known tends to make people compare her to her other roles or gives them some sort of expectation from that particular actress.

I think they were actually filming before she won the Oscar.
Personally I doesn't bother me because it won't be the Halley Barry show. I doubt she will be anymore prominent than any other Bond girl in the previous films.

With so many other's competing for the Bond type film franchise, I suppose they feel it can't hurt to feature her in the ads. She did win an Oscar so why not take advantage of her??

But I do agree and hope that it does not become the HB show!!

This film has two Oscar winners in it. How come they're pimping Halle Berry but not Judi Dench?

I think Halle Berry has much more marketable "assets".

I don't care about the actress, please, no more bond movies.... You would think people are tired of watching over-the-hill super agent in tuxedo riding a motorcycle and sliding it under an 18 foot trailer just to get in line to collect their social security check....

God, this movie looks so bad.

I mean Halle Berry running around in a millitary uniform? WTF?

That combined with the crappy looking sets and i think this movie will blow.

"Yo mama."

I know I will see it because it's James Bond, but so far the previews are really leading me to think that this will barely break $100 million in the long haul and do little more past opening weekend.

Hey, I see it this way...it can't be any worse than Denise Richards the nuclear physicist in "The World is Not Enough".

Her scenes are almost unwatchable.

Btw, is it just me or does it seem like these movies are just trying to be 'hip' now by putting a black girl in as the main love interest?

Austin Powers 3, now Die Another Day...

Here's my quote from another thread:
My problem with these "superstar" bond girls:

Remember the days when the Bond girl was an exotic new ingénue that no one had ever seen before? These girls often didn't speek english and had to be dubbed. It didn't matter because they were smokin' hot. You went to the movie and were like, "damn who is that piece of @ss? I've never seen her before."

Now we get an Acadamey Award winning actress as the bond girl. WTF, Bond is not supposed to bang an Oscar winner, he's supposed to bang the former Miss Hungry, and she's supposed to moan, "Oh James" in all her dubbed glory. I don't want to see some big name actress in the role. There is no mystery, and no excitement of discovery.

The billboard ad is pretty weird. I'd swear Berry's image is larger than Brosnan's. Who's friggin' movie is this anyway?

Brosnan's films have been all over the map for me. I think "Goldeneye" is one of the best Bonds ever, "World is Not Enough" ranks squarely in the middle of the series, and "Tomorrow Never Dies" is the worst Bond film ever made. So I'm finding it really hard to predict how I'll like this one. I'll try to stay open-minded if I can.

Never got what the big deal was with Halle Berry. Being a 007 fan, count me in among the ones hoping this isn't just gonna be a showcase of Halle's berrys...

No,no... I love the bond formula. I hope they keep trying. Bond disposes of the bad guy with a quick fight...dusts off his tux...straightens his tie and saunters back into the casino. I love it.

But she should have a larger role in the X-Men movies. Ororo is a major character and she's barely in the first one.

True Ororo is a major character in the comic books, but i'm of the opinion that Halle was wrong for the role to begin with. Angela Bassett would've been MUCH better for the role. But that's another thread altogether.

Yep. That seems to be Hollywood's theory nowadays. "Who gives a damn about story. We got t*tt*es!" While I didn't think Swordfish was that bad, Don Cheadle & the opening scene [Travolta's rant & the sound effects when the hostage blowded up] were my favorite parts of this flick.

I'm constantly amazed why the media makes such a big deal about things like Halle's t*ts & J.Lo's ass. They're not the only ones that have 'em.

Oh well. To get back on topic...maybe Halle will go the way of Teri Hatcher in Tomorrow Never Dies?

Don Cheadle is in "Swordfish"? That kinda adds a few extra points to the movie. Don is a real unsung hero in movies.

Sadly, Travolta cancels out any "cool" points for the film. I just cannot see him as a menacing villian.
