If Buffy ends, will some stars be making their way over to Angel???
From TV guide:
Buffy (TV): Could some of the "Buffy" stars be making their way over to "Angel" if things end this season? The chance is "very possible" according to Joss Whedon when he spoke to TV Guide recently: "I think it would be cool. It's sort of exciting, because you have this universe and all these people and all of their juxtapositions. It's interesting — to me anyway. But until I know what's happening with Buffy — and Angel — I don't know who will go where". Thanks to 'Jim'.

Xander would be a poor fit (he hates Angel - would cause some tension).
Willow - how many smart/nerdy/cute female characters does a show need? Would Fred get bounced, I don't think so. But Alyson would get to work with her beau (Alexis/Wes).
Dawn - having her hook up with Connor might not be a bad thing.
Anya - nah, Emma won't have much to do with an Angel show.

I don't really like Dawn, but they have been writing her better lately, who knows?
Agree with you about Willow/Fred being too similar.
