SOCOM Online Cheating
The only thing that I know of as concrete is the hiding in walls on certain levels.
The other night I attempted to kill an invincible player who wasn't lagging as far as I could tell. I hope it was just lag.
I've heard rumors of Gameshark BS making its way into the game as well.
What has everyone here seen? Has there been any word from Sony about fixes for the servers or glitches?

Urgh, I hope not. That's the one thing I was hoping wouldn't make it's way onto online console gaming. It took the fun out of Counterstrike, for me.

Last night was the worst I have ever seen. Every game we played in had something "cheat like" going on.
I know for a fact that one guy shot me and then ran out a rock wall on Night Stalker.
Three of us were shooting a player who was not lagging. It was an all out firefight and he wouldn't go down. Then when the round ended he was shooting his gun non stop and not reloading.
Two or three times while we were playing there were 9 players on one team.
I was reading scea.com's forum and I read that gamesharek released an infinite health code then removed it when trhey saw it working online. Not sure if this is accurate though as some people said that GS had tested the code online and did not release it. Either way I think you will find that it is in fact out there.

Main reason I sold my copy.
Glad I did too because used copies and mine went for 55+ on ebay.
Awesome b/c thanks to dvdtalk, I bought it for $39 shipped from amazon after finding the deal here! thanks.
P.S. - Now holding out for Ghost Recon on the Xbox to take over from SOCOM.

As for the no reloading - do you remember what type of gun he had? It could have been one of those guns with the 75 bullet clips.
I've seen the 9 player thing in other games before. I figured that it was a server or network glitch.
Whether the no reloading or the 9 player thing was a code or server glitch, the guy getting shot 1000 times definitely looked like a GameShark at work.

I have no idea how gameshark works. Do they alter code to make infinite health, ammo, etc. possible, or are the cheats there from the developers?
If the gameshark alters code, they should be sued by the developers and Sony, because after hearing this, I'm not going to buy it - and others may do the same.
If the cheats were built into the game from the beginning by the developers, then they better learn from this and make sure it doesn't happen in the future.

one good thing is that now that vice city is out there aren't nearly as many players online so the servers were good last night. I played a couple games and they were on the up and up. I wonder if perhaps it was just server problems. I'll have to hold my opinion until I see more cheating.

Also, loss of revenue. Like I said, I'm surely not going to buy an online game where a fair game is not possible. The replay value is in the toilet if every time you play the game, you cannot harm the opponent. If someone wants to cheat an offline game, fine - they only hurt themself.
Maybe in future games these cheaters can be branded as such, and put on an ignore list. I don't have the NA adapter yet, but would something like this be possible?
