They were both originally supposed to work on the soundtrack to Batman - MJ was supposed to complete 1/2 and Prince 1/2.
Then MJ backed out, or perhaps Warner Brothers changed their mind.

Hey they both need the money. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw Price in a Chevy commercial singing Little Red Corvette. I guess the three or four people over the age of twelve who thought he was actually singing a song about a car were right after all!
