aklaim might go out of business

they just released their earnings, loss of 28.1 million (compared to 1.4 million a year ago). on the horizon, they have no interesting games that I could tell (cept for bmx xxx) which is questionable. stock at .75

I tried really hard to think of an Acclaim game that I liked, but I couldn't ever think of one.

And that's not to mention Vexx and a few other games coming soon. I don't know - it seems like there'd be at least one or two games from that long list that would appeal to each of you. They're far from my favorite publisher/developer, but I've enjoyed quite a few of those games. MS could do worse than to pick them up. Who knows... maybe Nintendo will buy them with the money they got for selling Rare.

I'd definitely miss their Turok and Shadowman games, even if the last two were flawed. If they go down I hope someone else secures the rights to these franchises.

I wouldn't miss them either. Mortal Kombat I and II were ok for the time, as was NBA Jam, but other that I was never much of a fan.

Their games seemed to either be mediocre (Turok I and II) or just flat out suck.

Massive amounts of crap on that list.

They did a pretty good job on Allstar Baseball 2003 and Dave Mirra II. However those few games don't go anywhere near making up for releasing some of the worst garbage of any publisher. They have never had a problem releasing games that are no where near ready for market and they pretty much ruined their own reputation with gamers.

They will not be missed.

Of those, I only like the Bust-a-Move series, but that was a Taito creation originally if I'm not mistaken.

I can't stand the Acclaim sports games that I've played and I never liked the Turok series.

There's only one game on that list I like, and its bust a move, which was made by Taito , other than that don't care for any of their games, most of them are sports ones anyway. I had always thought X-Men: Children of the Atom was made by capcom?

If memory serves, businesses need to have at least a $1 stock value to be traded on the stock exchange. If they're at $0.75 they're on death row. They've got to do something soon or be delisted.

Bust a Move is a good series... And Bubble Bobble/Rainbow Island on the PSX was good (but not perfect). Other than those, Acclame can go away.

I think Acclaim and 3DO are twins separated at birth... currently baseball, backed up by nothing but, er, poopie.

Of course, there's Burnout, but that's 100% Criterion (if I'm not mistaken), so that series could always find another publisher.

Some of those games like Bust a Move and the Sega stuff are just games they brought over from Japan and those developers can't be faulted for Acclaims mass amounts of bad games they have developed for themselves.

3DO and Acclain are very much alike. I never realized the good baseball, but mostly terrible other game connection before.

3DO is on deaths door as well though, so I don't think they will be a problem much longer. Trip has to run out of money eventually. He ran out of good ideas 7 years ago.

I dug Bust-A-Move. Haven't played All-Star Baseball ever. Absolutely nothing else on that list is even remotely interesting to me though.

Sega would have released their games themselves anyway, Acclaim just saved them the trouble.

Except for the Sega titles, Burnout, Burnout 2 and ReVolt there is nothing on that list I would miss.

wow, the list you posted trigger is a moving touch, to bad I could careless if they are going out of buisness, the company had so much crap in it's fill that it wasn't funny. I remember seeing the name and already passing up the game since it was just more trash.

I'll put money that none of you that are saying "all their games are crap except blah blah blah" have ever played all of their games. If you haven't played it, how can you know it's crap? *and if you say "I know it's crap because it's acclaim" then you should receive a boot to the head.

Hell... I couldn't care less really about Acclaim except that the original Mortal Kombat is still my favorite fighter of all time. I never associated their name with 'low quality'... but then again, I've only played a few games from that list. I do know that quite a few of their games have received plenty of review kudos and high scores. Maybe this is just "what have you done for me lately?" syndrome. I kinda hope someone picks them up.

*edited to fix grammatical error that was annoying me (but not all grammatical errors)
