Police Story HKL help

I know about the problem that HKL's Police Story DVD has, with the image being squeezed and the only way to fix it in the U.S. is to have a Malata N996/520 and use the x y scaling feature. But I'm considering buying the JVC XV-S500/502 instead of the Malata since I've heard that's it's an overall better region-free player than the Malata, but will Police Story have the same problem since the JVC doesn't have an x y scaling feature like those Malata players do?

And could anyone post a comparison screenshot between a normal looking Police Story and a squeezed Police Story shot? Thanks.

i haven't had any problems with my malata, i think that it is cheaper than the JVC, why not just go for the malata?

I've read that it's a pretty low-quality player and that there are pixelation problems and things like that.

We already have sufficient Malata-oriented threads. Please read and use the existing ones. Thank you. [Benedict]

i have had it since january and haven't had any problems with it all. i have a 56" 16x9 TV so i'd see any pixelation or stuff like that. it is a great player, it does region codes w/o a problem and the PAL to NTSC conversion is great in my book. just my opinion, that's all.
