Yay, new Gamecube owner here, now what type of A/V cables should I use?
Currently I'm using the plain cables that came with the system, but I was wondering if there was a better connection (S-Video) that I can use. Would the digital A/V port on the back of the cube give me a better picture, and do I need a digital audio cable to get the Dolby Pro-Logic II sound in Rogue Leader?
Thanks.
Thanks.

S-video and component connections (component currently only available directly from Nintendo, I believe) are indeed available.

ctyner is correct. Additionally, the digital port is for component cables only and has no audio output function. You have to hook the audio cables from the composite or s-video cables to get audio while using the component cables. There is no digital audio connection, but you can get DPLII from the analog (red and white) cables. The s-video cable shows a nice improvement in video quality over the composite cables. I haven't used the component cable yet.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was hoping maybe there would be a cable for using S-Video with the digital video out, but it sounds like the analog out will be sufficient.
Well, I bought it off of eBay with Rogue Leader included plus I picked up Mario.

I picked up the S video first(didn't see to much difference), then ordered the component right from Nintendo(I see a major improvement over the S and composite ones too)
You have you have component to get the progressive scan gaming mode, for games that support it such as SMB2, beach spikers etc. I say skip the S, and just go straight for the component, that's asuuming you have a tv capable of supporting the display.

Monster Cable for GC is out
I just picked up the Monster S-Video cable for GC this week. It's about $30. Great picture and sound, but something in me suspects you'd get similar results from a standard S-video cable. In any case on a standard TV, S-VHS is going to be a vast improvement over the old composite hookups.
I do have one set of component inputs (which I use for my DVD player) on my 52" RCA projection tv, but it's not high-def so I didn't really see the point of hasseling with them for the GC too.
