Alot of Miyazaki-Studio Ghibli next year

Pretty much the rest of the stuff he has made is coming to dvd by next year (4 of the titles in total). This info came via the new Laputa release that I picked up yesterday. This includes Nausica, btw.

And Region 3 will no doubt have it soon as well. I live here in Japan so that is why I got it so soon. At first I thought there was an audio error because at the first you see someone talking but there is no Japanese, while the English track has audio (the scene where the little girl is offered something buy the waiter). But, I rented the VHS copy that is in Japanese and there is no problem after all.

Big sigh. The reasons for getting a region-free, PAL>NTSC DVD player keep accumulating.

No, it just says 2003 in the pamplet that was inside the Laputa dvd. The next one is Ponpoko and will be available in December 2002.

DeLuxe Laputa is already out. Works out to about $140.

Joelgee: The R2 Japan DVDs are all in NTSC. All you need is a region free DVD player.

European releases are in PAL, though.

You won't see many Ghibli movies in Europe unless you look to France, I think. There seems to little interest from the companies to release them here.
