Battlefield 1942 Problems
Battlefield runs like crap on my PC. EA's tech support site is way out of date and I doubt they'll help me.
My system:
Athlon XP 2000+
512MB Ram
GeForce 4 4400 128MB
Sound Blaster Audigy
Broadband internet
Latest Detonator drivers for video card.
Downloaded the retail patch for BF1942.
DirectX 8.1
Game is laggy in any server. The text is blurry and difficult to read. It just looks like crap. The demo was smooth and ran well. It takes forever to load too... is this normal? The sound cuts out sometimes.
I'm running the game with all options at 1024X768 32. It should run great with my system. It looked the same at default settings, so I don't think it's that.

Yes, the load problem is a pain. To help things a little, download the crack that takes out the copy protection; a LOT of people with a legit copy have done this.
BF1942 has a big problem with SB Live! cards, but I don't know if that carries over to the Audigy as well. I would suggest lowering your sound settings and see if that helps.

FYI the blurry text is due to the Anti Aliasing (sp?) feature on your video card. It's strange becuase most older games would do this with AA turned on. However, most newer games don't do it. But turn off AA and I'm pretty sure the text will look ok, I did it on my computer as well.
Also for some speed up tips try changing the sound to 22 Khz vs. 44.
