Beck "Sea Change"- opinions?

I'm wondering what people think of the new album.

I've been listening to it for about a month and I love it.

WARNING: This is nothing like ODELAY or Midnite Vultures.

It's slow alt-rock and ballads etc.

Kinda of like Mutations but much better in my opinion.

Check out the first single "The Golden Age" should help you decide on the album.

It reminded me more of "One Foot In The Grave" with much more emphasis on the production. Very bluesy/folksy and somber.

I really dig it.

WOW!!! I couldn't disagree more.
But that's why they call 'em opinions.
How do you have Smokey Hormel on guitar and not sound dirty? The album sounds way too produced despite the reviews of an "intimate folky endeavor". Ralphie's right-on. Beck's voice has even been put through some synth-thing to sound pretty. It's not bad...just way different. It's not nearly as good as Mutations though.

Personally I think it's the best thing he's ever done.

When Mutations came out I bought it and listened to it a couple times and it didn't do much for me.

I listened to Sea Change and it blew me away. I'm a big fan of Odelay and Midnite Vultures and I reluctantly bought Sea Change thinking "This is going to be slow and I'll hate it."

It's a great disc.

I picked this up today. It's on sale for $11.96 at Target this week FYI.

I've only listened to it once through, and it just blew me away. It's just one of those albums that you just know is going to be one of you're favorites after the first listen.
