Recording PAL to NTSC
Hey all,
I asked this question in the technology forum and got no response. Hopefully you guys will be able to help.
First off...I want to say that I'm starting this thread as a legitimate question and i'm NOT referencing or advocating bootlegging.
I'm curious as to what happens if you try to make a copy of a PAL DVD on an NTSC dvd recorder. If you hooked up a MALATA or whichever recorder your prefer to one of the newer recorders, would you get a copy of your recording or would there be a problem?
Just curious...i'd be interested in making backups of some of my PAL on NTSC.

Disregarding issues of Macrovision copy protection, the Malata will convert the PAL signal to NTSC for playback. Plugging the Malata into a (presumably NTSC) DVD recorder would then be no different than plugging any other NTSC DVD player into it.
