The Cure- Dark Trilogy???

This is the first I'd ever heard of this "trilogy" thing. I suppose it makes sense, though. I just never thought of the possibilty of a trilogy existing within the body of an musical artist's work.

***THREE CURE SHOWS IN NOVEMBER***

SATURDAY 9TH NOVEMBER

WE HAVE ACCEPTED AN INVITATION TO PERFORM
THE FIRST FULL CONCERT @ THE BRAND NEW
COLORLINE ARENA, HAMBURG, GERMANY

(setlist to be decided!)

**********

MONDAY 11TH / TUESDAY 12TH NOVEMBER

'THE TRILOGY CONCERTS'
(PORNOGRAPHY / DISINTEGRATION / BLOODFLOWERS)
@ TEMPODROM, BERLIN, GERMANY

"The three 'dark trilogy' albums performed in their entirety on both nights,
with both shows to be filmed for a forthcoming 'collectors edition' live DVD"

***

one hundred years . a short term effect . the hanging garden .
siamese twins . the figurehead . a strange day . cold . pornography
>>>20 minute intermission
plainsong . pictures of you . closedown . lovesong . last dance . lullaby . fascination street .
prayers for rain . the same deep water as you . disintegration . homesick . untitled
>>>20 minute intermission
out of this world . watching me fall . where the birds always sing . maybe someday . the last day of summer .
there is no if... . the loudest sound . 39 . bloodflowers
I found the first concert listed to be pretty interesting. It made me realize how much more this great band is appreciated by Europeans than those in the states.

Discuss or not...

Yup...I remember waiting and waiting for Bloodflowers because it was the final cd of the 'trilogy'. I definately notice a slightly different feel to these three discs as apposed to some of their other work that came out in between.

I had never heard the 'trilogy' mentioned until bloodflowers came out, though Robert Smith claimed it was his intention all along. I don't really know how these three stand out of the entire body of work as a 'trilogy'. Disentigration and Bloodflowers are definitely relatives from the later Cure albums, but how can Pornography be seperated from Faith and Seventeen Seconds so easily. As a matter of fact, weren't Faith and Pornography reissued as Happily Ever After?

Are you kidding me? Pornography sounds nothing like Faith. It's completely edgy, gothic, and one of, if not the most brilliant hard rock albums ever made by any band. Faith is also great, but it's a soft, relaxing album, with songs like All Cats are Grey, Faith, and Funeral Party. I listen to it when I want something to rock me to sleep.

Happily Ever After was a limited edition cassette with faith and 17 seconds on each side respectively. There was another limited edition cassette that had faith and (I think) carnagy visors on the other side.

As for the dark trilogy, where's KissMex3? It's a helluva lot darker than Disintergration. And Numb from WMS is one of the darkest songs I've ever heard.

Now...where can we preorder this dvd

And I thought Robert broke up the band...

Silly me.

But, hey, The Cure still rules!

Pornography is a masterpiece, along with Disintegration and there is no way on Earth that they can do justice live to either of them...but I can't blame them for trying or the curious fans from attending.

I'd sell my left nut to see those shows. Well, I'm keeping mine, but if I had someone else's, I'd sell it.

As far as performing those albums, if you saw any shows on the last tour, they certainly can do them justice. The last tour was my favorite so far, including the Disintigration tour.

I doubt I'll be going, but now that I've heard of the shows, I'm off to price a few tickets to Germany. I've definitely done stupider things than spend money I don't have to see a concert overseas.

And when the DVD comes out I'll be doing my happy dance for a week. (In a mopey kinda way, of course.)

And I thought Smith was finally gonna hang it up after the last tour. If I wasn't so busy w/work right now, I'd already have a flight booked Germany to see this. For us Cure aficionados, this will be an amazing release. I can just imagine all the special features I'd love to see on this one (too many to even list). Now if we can just get them to release "Cure in Orange", "Cure Play Out", and "Show" on DVD, we'll be set!

I agree Jippy. As for why they're still going? I read somewhere a long time ago that Beefin Bob told an interviewer that he is practically addicted to writting and composing music, and that any future announcements of retirement should be taken as bollox.
