I've only been through the first two discs, but I love it so far. Of course I'm a big Simpsons fan so that's a given, but they've made some improvements over the first season's dvd. The menu sound isn't as loud as it was before, it's closer in volume level with the episodes, and the commentaries are more informative IMO, and have less of the "Oh god...that looks bad" type comments. Some of the early episodes still have somewhat rough animation, but by the second disc it becomes much closer to what we get today. The episodes overall are better (though season one did have some classics) and personally I think this set was a better bang for the buck then the first one.

The DD 5.1 remixes are still kind of clunky though, it really feels like there's a foley artist standing there hitting pots and pans during the title sequence, but it's not too bad, and the original stereo track is there if you want it. Also, if you don't know that the "menu key" will let you skip the opening spinning animation, it can get annoying.

There are no "bad" Simpsons episodes, in my opinion. Lots of great episodes in Season 2, and each one has a commentary track.

Be forewarned: the disc is pan-and-scan and there is not DTS!

I'd have to say I've seen a few bad ones in the last 2 or 3 seasons, but I'll still get the dvds. The commentary tracks are great, even when they don't have anything in particular to say about the making of an episode. I was watching "Dead Putting Society" yesterday and the commentary was mostly just them laughing hysterically whenever Homer got angry. They couldn't get over how psychotic he was and sugessted that he needed help

What's funny is that because they have different people on the commentaries, there will sometimes be some repeated questions and comments. For example, in just about every single episode with Phil Hartman, somebody invariably asks "Was this the first episode with Phil Hartman?"

You are kidding right? I assume so, but I still have to point out that it isn't pan and scan, but OAR of 4:3 as it was made for television. The DTS part, along with witnessing your sense of humor here first-hand leads me to beleive that this post is in jest, but I couldn't leave it alone.

this is a joke, dts would be horrible on this dvd, and the oar is in 4x3. lots of times with older movies, we jokeingly say sometimes that we need the widescreen version and dts on movies that dont need it

I hear yah, also all the episodes are animated? What is up with that, they were to cheap to afford actual actors? What a waste of money this box set is.

I think the episodes on this set are much better than season 1. In this set I can really enjoy about 15 of the 22 episodes. Some are brilliant (Lisa's substitute, 3 men and a comic book).

Actually, very few animated shows are done live. It's very hard on the animators' wrists.

Season 2 box set has alot of great episodes on it... I am a huge Simpsons fan, and while I have been watching them ever since The Tracy Ulman Show I must admit the first season were mostly weak episodes; the real saving grace on Season 1 was the christmas special.

As far as Season 2, I have only had the time so far to watch the first two discs, there are a few classic episodes on there along with some pretty lame ones. I have stayed away from the commentary so far because I really didn't care for the Season 1 commentary ("hehe... I remember writing that... that was funny" etc etc). As far as special features, the box said there is a making of an episode feature as well as the bartman video and some commercials, but I have yet to find them so I am assuming they will be on disc 4. It is definantly worth the price since you get a full 20+ episode season, but for me the real fun will begin when the next couple seasons are released.
