Braindead (Dead Alive) is available on R2 DVD for only 8.99 euro (equal to US $). It's only avaible censored in the US

The U.S. DVD (from Trimark) is in fact Jackson's preferred cut. The extended international version is still worth it for fans, though.

There was a fairly long delay between the NZ and U.S. release that Jackson used as an opportunity to "tighten up" the film. The IMDb has some more info.

As far as I'm concerned, the original Braindead cut seen just about everywhere but the U.S. is the only real version of the film.

All respects to PJ, but the Braindead cut is better. Even in the unrated version, there are two characters who simply disappear due to cut footage. That ain't right.

Coincidentally, it's 8.99 pounds at Play.com.

Could you post the link? I'd like to see other people's comments on the disc as well.

i got myself the dutch release at the store which i made a link to on the 1st post in this thread. yeah too bad it's penn and scan, otherwise it would be awesome for that prica but in this case it's still good for 8.99 euros. i guess i'm lucky that i didn't have to order it, i just go into the store.

Dutch subtitles are optional

Weird. I picked up the UK. Universal Pictures Release of BrainDead and the cover is totally different than what I posted above. It's actually pretty cool with the picture of the baby (from the blender).

It look's like 1.66:1. The Trimark DVD is way superior in Video Quality. But this Universal Release is UNCUT.

Not sure if the frame was just opened up or not. Will check sometime soon.

The ending credits seem a bit different as well.
