Home projection for dirt cheap.
I'm not new here, I didn't find anything in a search. I just want to know do these home kits work, or is it just a load of bull.

I can't find any reputable places that reccommend this operation, so I know it can't be that GREAT, I want to know do they WORK or not. If so, why NOT?

Sorry to interrupt this love-in, but here's what I found in a search: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...t=fresnel+lens

There's also a great post by Otto on that page with a link to http://www.bstvcentral.b0x.com/ where they built a projector box using a fresnel lens.
Hope that helps.

The lighthouse example was classic. What they neglect to tell you is that the light output of your TV is only the smallest fraction of the power you would need.

Above are many links, but to make it simple and give you your STRAIGHT answer........
This thing is what it is.
I bought one just to play around with on the kids TV.
I did get a bigger image although the letters and numbers are STILL backwards.
The image itself was ok in the middle, but faded along the edges.
The box you have to make is simple, but the TV fits pretty much at the very end of one side, and the LENS is at the very end of the other side. The box that fits in the bigger box is almost completely out,if that makes sense.Instead of it sliding in and out, they are almost at their furthest points.
I used a 13" and my image was about 50" and NOT the 150" they say.I tried at different distances, but no go.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for and although kinda fun and may be ok for the kids,it is in the way(the box),you cant play games because the image is STILL backwards.
I would say don't waste your money.
If you must, goto Wal-Mart and get one for $3,for the SAME EXACT ONE!
Its a quick money maker and thats it,,,,,,,caught our eyes didn't it

Thank you VHS - I've had no faith in it, but I could never get a straight answer as to why it didn't work. Thank you.

The ultra high pressure bulbs on home projectors are usually between 130 and 300 watts. Bigger business ones go up to 2000 or so watts. These UHP bulbs tend to be more efficient than Xenon.
You know those very VERY bright Xenon headlights on newer cars? Those are only 30 watts.
As you can see, it takes a lot of light to drive a projector. A normal TV won't do it.
