Your Videogame Buys for Aug-Oct

Hey, videogames are finally back again. It seems (for me at least) that I haven't been into any games since earlier this year when GTA3, Tony Hawk 3, SSB: Melee and others were still somewhat new.

So what does everyone plan on purchasing from now 'til October? Surely there are at least 2 or 3 games that you are absolutely dying to play.

For me...

Gamecube:

NFL 2K3 - Definitely should be the best football game for the 'Cube
Super Mario Sunshine - Most anticipated game right now. Anything close to Mario 64 does it for me.
Turok: Evolution - Heard good so far, hopefully it lives up.
NBA 2K3 - Close second for most wanted. Love Sega's b-ball series, let's hope it improves upon the weak Cube 2K2 version.
NHL 2K3 - If this one improves upon the Dreamcast's 2K2, it will definitely warrent a purchase. Looks promising.

Looks like an expensive couple of months, and this doesn't even include the barrage of games coming in November and December (Metroid, Tony Hawk 4, Bond, oh vey). Looks like that EB giftcard I got the other day from the DVDs will be gone within weeks.

Gamecube

Picked up Rogue Squadron and regretted the purchase....on ebay as I type. Anyone who has played the old Xwing games on the computer will not like this game. Too easy and not very realistic as are the sims on the computer.

Will be picking up RE0 in October....ebgames emailed me to let me know this game will be an Oct release instead of early Nov.

PS2

GTA: Vice City in October
Just picked up the PS2 version of RE Code Name....had sold the Dreamcast version.

Onimusha 2 looks good but I think I will wait on this one....maybe even wait for the price reduction if it becomes a greatest hit as did the first edition.

Xbox

Well.....I still do not have one yet and Shenmue II is coming out. Guess I will see about borrowing my step-sons Xbox should I decide to buy it.

I am finally going to get around to picking up: Gitaroo-Man, Parappa the Rapper 2, Mister Mosquito, Rez, and Frequency. I might consider Way of the Samurai and Mark of Kri.

Game Cube
Super Mario Sunshine
Animal Crossing (maybe, I might put it off for awhile)
Resident Evil 0 if it does make the October date

PS2
Kingdom Hearts
GTA Vice City

The tough thing is NFL2K3 and NBA2K3. I'm torn between getting them for the Xbox or Game Cube. When I get my Xbox back from being repaired I will decide. I may go with the Game Cube and the Wavebird on this one and just eat the extra cost for memory cards. Its a tough call right now.

There are a few other games on the borderline. I may not get them at launch, but when they drop to $30 I might pick them up. I'm getting tired of paying $50 for a game. Granted I've got a lot of money from the EB trade in, but I would like to make it last awhile.

I've noticed there's many more posts here about upcoming GC games than about xbox ones. Another thing I've noticed is that people have had their xbox's out for repairs.... never heard of the gamecube being repaired.
The only thing that's keeping me from the cube right now is that i'm a damn Buffy freak!

To be fair my friend is going to have to get his Game Cube repaired. That little button you push down to get the disc to pop up has gotten so loose the disc will now pop up when you don't want it to.

I've stopped using my button just to be safe. I just pull out the disc with my hand like on the PSone.

I don't think that many people have had their Xbox units repaired. There was a bad batch of them going around when it was first launched that burned a few people, but for the most part I think I may be the only one who has had problems recently. I also had my launch PS2 have the DVD-ROM die (something that happened to many people) so none of the consoles are perfect. However, I will agree that I've heard next to nothing about Game Cube problems other than the problem I listed above.

Really? That's not good.. sometimes I like to just pop out discs because it has such a satisfying feel Maybe I should stop doing that..

Well the GC is finally getting it's huge batch of games starting with Mario and the Sega/EA college football and NFL titles. Seems like titles will be rolling in after those...

GizmoDVD,

You are getting Zelda for your Gamecube by October?

I think you will be hard pressed to find any pc gamer that will not have Unreal Tournament 2003 on their purchase list.

Also, there is a chance, although slim, that Shadowbane will be released around late October, early November.
