Chances are they'll have the NTSC up in a few months, like they did last time 'round... unless the US actually releases it*.

*and even if it did get a US release, I imagine it would be with nine minutes cut, with a different soundtrack, etc...

you try to play PAL on an NTSC player and it'll look like scrambled porn with a vertical hold problem.

You have something against English subtitles?

This was available to pre-order for a very short time at Amazon UK for only $13-$14.

Go on, rub it in

Seriously though... it's one thing to double dip in AMERICA, but when I must do it by ordering overseas?

That whimper you hear is my poor wallet crying...

Heh! I can beat that!
-I don't bother to get my credit card out anymore for online transactions. (I've got all the info memorized) Sad part is, about 2 months ago I had to get a re-issue and had the new number memorized in less than 24 hrs.

-Well, I currently own the R3 DVD from HK, the VCD, and the Tartan NTSC R0. I think I'm calling it quits for rebuying it anymore.

Cheers,
Gabe

No, nothing against English subtitles. But I got it a few months ago, and my Japanese skills have been enough for me. Taishita koto wa nee sa.

The Japanese R2 special version is 16X9 and progressive NTSC. Is the UK version the same?

Game over ya!

No body in the US would have the balls to release this movie. In this modern day of touchie-feelie PC crap that we've fallen into, no sane studio would release this, no distributor would touch it with a 20 foot pole, and no store in it's right mind would consider carrying it. It would be like trying to show Blazing Saddles or Pulp Fiction on network TV - you'd have about half an hour of film left after all the edits were said and done.

This movie has poison written all over it.

Oh, how I long for the days when words like "controversial" and "dangerous" meant a movie was going to sell like wildfire. Anyway, BR is going to be released here in Finland soon, and in theaters too! I'm glad to have gotten the ball rolling early by passing positive word of mouth to all of my friends when I first saw the film around March.

Anyway, no way am I buying that R2 SE if it's going to be that expensive. The £20 region is reserved for old $39.95-MSRP Criterions in my book. Screw Britain's inflated prices!

It is 16x9 and the extra 100 lines of resolution inherent in PAL certainly will help it look the best it can.

I pray Tartan don’t screw up the transfer.

It is a 2 disc set with loads of extas and a cut of the movie unavailable anywhere else outside of Japan and then only in an unsubbed version. Good value for money I’d say.

Does anyone know if the making-of docu on the second disc is the same as the Battle Royale Gaiden disc? Or excerpts, etc.? That disc also has an interview with Kitano like this SE, so that makes this set even more attractive if so.
