Help, is my Subwoofer toasted?
Just recently my Sub has been going haywire, it will make a constant booming noise until I unplug it. Really what I want to know is if it's worth getting fixed, or do I take the plunge and buy a new one?
It's a JBL PSW-D110
High Pass: 150
Phase: 0
Low Pass:100
I don't know much about sub's, but that's the settings I have set on the back

Check the connections, something may be loose or shorted.
Also check whether it has an auto on or off. I do not like to use this feature as it can cause some thumping.
It is possible the amp is having some kind of problem.

All these cheap subs made by "Harmon" a few years back seem to have the same amp problems. I know...I have an Infinity BU-120 that died after around 14 months. I got Harmon Int'l to help offset the repairs, which have held up great. Repairs will be $100-$150, so you may want to consider a new sub.
You can probably read a lot about this on audioreview.com. Search for your sub model and read people's complaints, and hopefully their resolutions.
