I have some used DVDs I'm gonna sell. And I wanted to know before I got into anything. If anybody from experience which one is generally faster, Amazon or Half.com? The reason I like those over Ebay is because you can list the DVD for whatever you want and it can be listed for months and only charge commision on a sale. On Ebay you have to list it and get charged atleast 30 cents a week plus commisions. Start the bid high you can get charged 3 dollars each week for listing it on ebay for expensive big box sets that you just won't let go under said amount. So there is less risk with Amazon and Half.com.

Hmmmm........they are very close in my opinion......I like Half a little better because they seem to pay a bit faster and a tad more....i've had good luck with both though, hard to go wrong with either....I normally list on both when I have something to sell.

Are you saying list on both and as soon as one sells immediately unlist the other? Do they let you remove an item from a listing like that?

I know on half.com, it's really easy to remove a listing. I have no experience with amazon, though.

Once I sold a DVD on amazon.com and it was snatched up the very same day by a customer. Amazon's policy is that you have 48 hours to ship the item, with a shipping expense of something like $2 and then it takes 2 weeks for the money to materialize in your checking account. So I would say that you should give half.com a try.

You will probably sell it faster on Half, but you will get more money for it on Amazon.

Hmm.. thanks for the expert opinion. Comes down to choice I guess, I do appreciate that info. DVDjunkie I don't know the shipping riembursment at Half.com but it is probably a couple dollars like Amazon. I do know they said every 15 days is when they deposit money into accounts. So twice a month. And from that day about 7 days for it to appear in your checking account. Pretty good if you ask me, just for getting rid of some used DVDs and videogames.

I use both since amazon has things in their database that half.com doesn't. half.com sells faster, because there's more traffic from people looking specifically to buy used items, plus there is the lure of coupons for the buyer, even though return-customer ones are rare. Amazon has never had coupons for used stuff from private sellers.

You can move the balance in your amazon.com account to your bank account at anytime, you don't have to wait for the 15 day interval like with half.com.

In my younger years, I used to buy DVD's from cheap places and post them on Ebay. I could buy "My Fair Lady" at reel.com for $7 and sell it on Ebay for $25. That was before DVD's were for sale everywhere.

My suggestion now? Skip selling online. Swing by your local used-media shop and hope you get $0.50 each. Donate them. Pawn shops are good to sell to also.

Any titles that I can get $1 or more for I sell to Secondspin.com (obviously rare / OOP titles I put on eBay). Depending on how many titles I have that are under $1 I sell to Decluttr or donate to Savers or Goodwill.
