I own a gamecube and an XBOX and need some help figuring out what cables or connectors I need to run my systems in Progressive Scan. I have a 16X9 Mitsubishi with plenty of inputs, but I just don't know what connectors for the machines I need. I someone could please help me with a little information or a web-site where I can see what these cables are I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks.

You need component cables to get progressive scan output from the Xbox and Gamecube. You need to get the HD AV Pack for the Xbox ($20). You need to contact Nintendo directly for their cable.

Do not confuse component with composite. Many people do. Here is the difference. Component which is what you want carries the video signal on three wires. Composite which is what comes with the consoles carries the video signal on one wire.

You need component cables. they're the ones with three plugs at the end (red, blue and green.) And you'll want to plug them into the corresponding inputs on your tv.

I have Xbox and Gamecube also. And they both look great in progressive.

I find it funny that you bought a 16x9 Progressive Scan TV (which aren't very cheap...) and really have no idea what it can do hehe... But yes the previous two statements are true. You need:

X-Box: HD AV pack
Gamecube: Component video cables (you can buy these from Nintendo's online store ONLY, online anyway)

And then set the game to run in progressive scan...

Perhaps you should read up on what all of those inputs are used for...

With the gamecube I beleive you hold down the B button during boot up. I could be wrong though

Most games have an option as well to change to interlaced or progressive.

I am thinking of purchasing a Toshiba 57" rear projection tv. I was wondering how a progressive scan x-box game will look on it, because it upconverts the 480p signal to a 540p

SuprVgeta.....don't laugh, because you are quite wrong in your assumption. In my post I didn't ask what is progressive scan, trust me I know. Composite vs. Component....knew that. All I was wanting to know was HOW DO I CONNECT THE SYSTEMS. I figured I needed something special such as the XBOX HD pack, and I had no idea I had to go to the on-line Nintendo web-site to get the component set-up for the GCube. Thanks for the help and information everybody. Please feel better with the fact though that I am quite aware of what my TV can do...just trying to optimize the gaming experience. Also is everyone sure that you hold down the B button on the controller of the GCUBE to boot up in Progressive? Thanks.

Not all Game Cube games will run in 480p. The ones that do will recognize the Component video cable and ask you if you want to enable progressive when it is booting.

All X-Box games DO run in progressive. But not necessarily in 16x9. Go into the X-Box hardware setup menu and tell it you want widescreen and progresssive and it will handle everything from then on.

With your Mits hit the "info" button on your remote and it will say 480i or 480p if you can not tell.

It's worthy to note that DVDs played on the X-Box are 480i, not 480p.
