anybody order Criterions from DVD Planet before?!?!

I was searching for several CC's on the net, and it seems like DVD Planet offers the best prices for CC's. So I was wondering if any of you DVD crazies out there ordered DVD's from them before and had any problems. I usually don't buy stuff from the internet, but i would hate to shell out $40 per CC at my local Border's. So if DVD Planet seem reliable, I would juss go ahead and order some CC's and start my CC Collection (so far I only have 1, but I will have it complete one of these days...:P)

So please help me out here!! Thanx a lot!!

I've ordered many CCs from DVD Planet with no problems whatsoever.

EDIT: P.S. Welcome to the forum

DVD Planet has always been very reliable. I too have ordered a large number of CCs from them. When they left one out of an order, they were very prompt in sending the replacement. Unlike many online reatailers, they also have a B & M location as well.

Great place to order any title from (including Criterions... although sometimes BestPrices.com will beat them pricewise but shipping is more).

DVDPlanet has been around for 15+ years (formally Ken Crane's Laserdiscs). They are probably one of the most reliable retailers/e-tailers out there. You can order from them with confidence.

You just have to watch DVDPlanet on pre-orders. They will bill you the 20-25% off price, not the originally listed 35% off price. Then you have to call them & get a credit. I know because they did it to me on SIX straight purchases (Criterion & non-Criterion). This is why I no longer buy from DVDPlanet.com.

Last fall and winter I purchased numerous Criterions from DVDPlanet without a problem during their Fall and 12 Days of Christmas sales. I've generally been holding off buying Criterions ever since in the hope that they have a similar sales this year.

Back in December, Criterions were 35% off... Plus DVDPlanet had a "12 Days of Christmas" game where you would win 12 coupons (1 each day) for free shipping or $5/$10 off your purchase. That's how they can be better.

I basically completed by entire Criterion "wish list" shopping during that time period.

Me too, plus I won a semi-crappy DVD player in the sweepstakes. I'll definitely keep my eye on that site around Halloween time this fall.

Since I started buying my Criterions (should that be Criteria?) at DVD Planet I won't buy them anywhere else. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

They had valentine coupons too I think...but none since then. I don't know if they'll ever do them again, so as I pessimist, I'd say not. But 35% off is probably the best you'll find for criterions since the great checkout.com sale.

One question about DVD Planet... since they charge for shipping and handling, doesn't that mean if you take that charge into account, DVD Planet is actually more expensive than DDD?

DVD Planet would still generally be cheaper. Most $39.95 list Criterion titles are $25.96 at DVD Planet and $28.76 at DDD.
DVD Planet charges $2.50 for the first DVD they ship and 50c for each additional DVD. So one DVD would be slightly cheaper even with shipping at DVD Planet...and if you are ordering multiple Criterion DVDs...there would even be more savings over DDD. Also the shipping at DVD Planet is either First Class or Priority Mail while the free shipping option at DDD is media mail and depending on how far you live from where DDD ships (Illinois I think??) then it could take a long time to get to you.
