R4 Extended Dune (Lynch) and R4 EWS (uncensored)?

Can someone point me to an online store where I can order both the R4 version of the extended Dune DVD (Alan Smithee/Lynch version), and the Eyes Wide Shut (uncencored) DVD? TIA.

A good starting point?

I'm going offline, so can't look myself, but there is info on Australian R4 etailers in AutumnNights' excellent sticky: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...7378#australia

As far as I'm aware the extended version has not been released in r4 - it has, however, been released in r2 Uk and R2 Japan - the UK release being cheaper, and the Japanese release being NTSC.

(whereas r4 NZ/Aus has two releases - the first being a very early release with very poor sound and video transfers, and the later release having better sound and video. Neither are the extended cut of the film though)

I have the R2 PAL disc of Dune. It's pretty god damn mediocre. It's converted from NTSC to PAL (i.e. crappy quality) and is pan and scan.

You could try to track down the NTSC Japanese version, but I believe it's pan and scan too...

Ah...thanks for pointer that it's a R2 release. Too bad about the video quality of the release.

It's seems a R4 version of the Alan Smithee Extended Dune DVD does exist:

But it's sort of expensive to ship to the US ($22.50AU), so I may take a pass on it for now.

The longer MCA-TV recut of Dune exists only in 4:3 format. It is impossible to make a widescreen edition of it. The miniseries was edited and assembled in the video realm after the original photographic footage had been transferred to pan & scan video. Also, the numerous new insert shots created for the TV version (including the entire cartoon prologue) were shot on video at a 4:3 ratio.

Fear not, I've already ordered a copy that was on clearance at one of the online stores.
