Do some movies put you to sleep, not because they are boring!?
Here’s the deal, I have 2 movies that put me to sleep each time I watch them. I must specify that these two are great movies, and I also watch them late at night in a dark room, but that’s how I watch all my movies…
Here they are:
LEGEND
APOCALYPSE NOW.
It’s been proven that some movies with many cuts and a fast editing can put you to sleep faster than a slow movie, but this would not be the case for those.
I suspect a mix of strobing frequency (stimulating my brain wave patterns) and the general mood of the movies (dreamy ambiance, lightning, sound, etc…) to be the case for those two titles.
Anybody else had similar experiences with other movies?

i dunno, probably like you mentioned before, the lightning, mood, & also they movie feel so long... not enough action maybe
plus i was abit tired
it happened to me when i was watching 'In the mouth of madness'... specially the documentary (boooooring).
the movie was good, but the documentary was horrible

Movies that put me to sleep - not because they are boring.
Legend (this movie casts a strange spell over me each time I watch it!)
Bladerunner (it is such a relaxing movie; must be the rain)
Fantasia (slow and peaceful music)
Octopussy (Bond in sleepy misty India seems like a dream)

Any movie I've already seen that I start watching after 9:00. About the only exception to this is if I'm watching it with a girl I'm interested in. I get made fun of constantly because I'll end up getting people to get together at night to watch a movie and I'll nod out right around half way through. Oh well.

I never really fall asleep during any movie. Usually I'm wide awak in every movie I watch. It doesn't matter if a movie is slow pacing or just a popcorn flick, I'm always wide awake through the whole thing 'cause I don't want to miss anything. The only time I fall asleep during a movie is...if I watch it real late at night.
But the only kind of movies that put me to sleep is Japanes anime stuff. For some particular reason, I can't get into that Jap anime stuff. I've tried to watch "Akira", I fell asleep over that, tried to watch it again, fell asleep again. I've tried to watch "Vampire Hunter D" and fell asleep over that too. That stuff bores the hell out of me and I can't see how people can get into it but that's just my opinion though.

Any of the Star Wars films usually do it for me (if watching at home). It's not a bored thing or that I don't like them or find them exciting. Its just a comfort thing. Its like curling up in that child hood blanket that your mom still keeps around, just makes you all warm and comfortable and sllleeeeeeeeeepppyyyyyyy.

I fell asleep the other night watching The Iron Giant. When I woke up, I felt bad, because I always thought of it as one of my favorites. Then I noticed a tranquilizer dart in my shoulder and my left kidney had been stolen. Thank god! At least I still love that movie.

Se7en put me to sleep two times. I rented the Platinum Series disc but fell asleep half way thru each time. I finally watched the second half on Starz. Great movie once I finally saw the whole thing, but I don't know if I should buy the DVD if I'm going to dose off every time I watch it.

I’m glad to see that some movies have similar effect for some of you. I must admit that BLADE RUNNER would be a good addition to this list, but since it’s in my top 5 of all times and that I must have seen it 25+ times, I guess 3-4 falling asleep is acceptable .
But, like someone mentioned, maybe it’s because we see them too many times…
Take care all.

That's one third of the reason that I choose to buy any movie! Wotta blast to gauge your mentality and stance with those that you care for.
(+ Seven rocks! I love watching it with people that haven't seen it. Especially with friends who haven't had the ending given away to them )
