A VERY Underrated guitar player...
is Nick McCabe of the The Verve, who are of course no longer together. He might not be the most technically profficient player, but holy ****, if the man can't make sounds that you never thought could ever come out of a guitar. I like guitar player who create a new sound like The Edge of U2. Metallica's One may be a technically good guitar song, but The Fly by U2 or Weeping Willow by The Verve just create magical sound.

Yeah, Nick McCabe is very good and yes I agree he is very underrated. What is he doing right now? Do you know? Is he playing in another band since he split with the Verve? I really loved the Verve's music a lot and they wrote wonderful songs.
