I know it will because I decided to buy one. And everything I like turns to crap almost instantly.
I just got a call and my quarterly incentive is in ($300). So that's enough to get an xbox and a game and still fork over almost a hundred to the wife.

I'm just a step up from a casual gamer. I have a Gamecube and will be getting a PS2 this week. But there is NOTHING that the X-Box has to offer me to warrant speding a few hundred dollars on it.

There's nothing wrong in owning an Xbox, or other failed systems. It's just wrong to buy now when you can wait til it dies and hits the bargain bin; thus, saving you money and a more builded up library for you to select 2 good games out of it.

Bought one cause it rocks and Bill looses money every time one is sold (hardware that is).

I loved the Dreamcast too, but stopped playing it once I got a PS2.
Now, last week I just traded in(EB) that not-played Dreamcast and got a new X-Box for $49.21, with all the games(12) traded in, and accessories.
And Now, I have the 2 best consoles on the market for this fall in which I am really excited b/c online football is coming to a console near you!

Something to chew on for those who thought this was a real "Xbox is doomed" thread...

At my store we've been selling Xbox's left and right. I traded in my PS2, day before it dropped, and got an Xbox when it dropped the next day. I was scared at first, but the Xbox is pretty sweet, and we've sold alot more Xbox's than PS2's since the drop.

the title of the thread almost gave me a heart attack
I just got the xbox last weekend, and so far I've been pretty happy with it, silent dvd playback, 5.1 in game surround, smoother graphics, and so forth. (Mind you I was a PS2 believer b4 the price drop). But now I haven't touched the PS2 since I got my box.
Oh and by the way, the dreamcast is not dead. There's a whole slew of developers out there developing for it. Mostly side projects that let you do all sorts of emu's, mp3 players, divx?
But for now this xbox thingamajig is AWESOME!!! BRing on the games.
