sorry, all models are sony, I have a friend that works at sony and these are his prices.

first I am planning on buying a tv. Is the second worth the more money?

Well, we do know everything, except for what brands of equipment you're looking at and who the "her" is that you're buying the DVD player for. The first bit of information is the more critical of the two to let us in on.

From my own experience, those look like Sony model numbers for the TVs and the DVD players that the "her" will be getting. The difference between the two TVs seems to be that the more expensive of the two is high-definition. Whether you want or need an HDTV right now is up to you, and if you do, do you want one that is widescreen or the more conventional 4:3 shape.

They are Sony model numbers.

The HS TV is a better model but that depends on your needs. If you go with the HS tv you would want a progressive player like the 700p. The 300 is not progressive.

I am not familiar with the 860 sory.
