Good DVD Player Brand/Model Opinions?

Hi all, Im about to go looking for a new model player. I've had 2 Panasonic DVD players and frankly Ive had some crummy luck with both and intend to NOT buy Panasonic this time out in spite of the fact all my other components are of the Panasonic genre. Any suggestions on a solid, well preforming brand and or model? Thanks in advance .

I personally LOVE Sony, I am a big Sony freak, but I don't really know why. We just got our first Sony DVD changer for Christmas, and we haven't had any problems with it. I'd probably go with a Sony or a Toshiba. Maybe a JVC, but I haven't had any experience with them.

My Toshiba SD-3750 has been great thus far (3 months & counting), so that could be one mid-priced player worht looking into.

All I can do is recomend you stay as far away as possible from the Apex 500W players. I have one and it's giving me problems. Turns out hindsight really is 20/20.

Today I went out and picked up a Sony DVP-S560D player. Ive been hearing the Sonys are indeed good models but now Ive read in a few places that people have had some troubles with this particular model........let me add to the caveat emptor list buying the Panasonic models Im seeing; I have two......one locks up after an hour or so of use, and the other gives me fits by not reading discs I insert. I tried manually cleaning the lens as well as following Panasonics instructions to put the units back to their from the factory state by initializing each player.....neither fix did a bit of good.

Yeah, I'd stay away from the Sony DVP-S560D. It's like the Panasonic A110/A310 all over again. Check out the reviews on audioreview.com.
