While there was some cool things going on in this episode, does anyone else feel like that was the sloppiest police work ever?
They can't see the body lying 25 yards in front of the bus, the driver of the car is still alive.
And someone sure has hell had a bone to pick with the bus industry how many times was it told to us that they used cheap materials???
Whereas in actuality the co. owner put the job up for bid looking for grade 8, and was supplied with grade 8, except the suppliers gave him grade 5. I see no negligence on the behalf of the owner.
Sloppy episode, but it was nice to see Greg get some field action.

it was cool how they used alot of unseen technology on the show to help solve the crime. what i didn't like is that they focused on just the one crime. i like it when they split up into 2 teams and do two investigations.
(note to self. chloroform in a tire will cause it to blowout)

The guy had been fired from the bus company for using marijuana (only once in his life, so he claimed). He just wanted to cause blowouts. He had caused a bunch of other blowouts, but this was the first one since the company switched bolt distributers, hence the first accident. He didn't intend to hurt anyone, but he ends up with 9 counts of second degree murder.

Was it just me thinking that they were ASKING for trouble? They pretty much told how to sabotague a vehicle, and even went so far as to point out that the chloroform would be easy to buy.

You know that was my exact same thought when they were setting up the bus on that treadmill.

yup, terrorists can now simply sit at rest stops on busy interstates(especially the ones with fast food places at them) and simply poor chloroform on the tires

There was quite a bit about this episode I had trouble with as far making the leap of faith. Too many things kept poking into my mind.
1. If they were on the road from Barstow to Las Vegas, they were on Interstate 15. Did I miss somewhere that the bus went off on some lonely deserted road for a reason? That was not an interstate.
2. Before anyone suspected foul play, this was just a traffic accident. What accident sends out a team of scientists from the coroner's office? It's one thing to scrape the bodies up and bag/tag them. Quite another to initiate an investigation of that magnitude.
3. Isn't the issue of the bus part of the Highway Safety department? These forensic guys really overstepped their bounds.
4. Bolts. Please. Why would a shop replace all the bolts on the bus? A lot of leaps of faith there to assume this was a hardware problem and then do Rockwell testing on the bolts.
5. Not noticing a body 20 yards ahead of the bus. Specially in front of the missing bloody windshield (as mentioned).
6. Not noticing someone was alive. WTF? Hello?

I said terrorist because they like taking out lots of people
hitting a bus in the same way as on CSI would achieve that

Who said anything aboiut terrorists? I'm talking anybody who has a grudge against anyone and who wants to get rid of them and hopefully make it look like an accident, Mr. NRA. It is one thing to show elaborite murder plots that go wrong, but they are showing a quick and easy way to try and kill someone and maybe get away with it.

Very good points, some of which I cannot argue with. Some though....
The way it was filmed made it seem like a deserted road, there was a mention of how lucky it was that the bused only had hit only one car (the Camaro) while swerving across so many lanes of traffic.
5. Not noticing a body 20 yards ahead of the bus. Specially in front of the missing bloody windshield (as mentioned).

Agreed. Very sloppy, not crime work, but sloppy writing.
This episode just seemed odd to me, in execution and story. I dunno.
And I may just be halucination, but what was up with Greg in the field? Methink he's gonna get shipped to Miami so that viewers have someone to identify with over there, but maybe I'm smokin crack!

And the thing about "lucky since they swerved across so many lanes of traffic"...wtf? It looked like grass growing up through the cracks in the asphalt. That was a deserted road.
And I also was thinking... if this was a real road like I-15, I am sure. They combed out 4 feet across and set down little markers for each fragment of tire. And then picked up the tire fragments the next day. Un huh.... we can leave I-15 shut down for 12 hours. No problem.
And why? Because a vehicle ran off the road? It would be a fluke that in real life they would find some evil doing. 99% of the time the driver fell asleep, swerved to miss something, or whatever. Even good tires occasionally blow.
Ack....
I expect better from this show.
Is that a splash from someone jumping over a shark?

I thought it was a very good episode. After the accident in the first few minutes, I thought to myself 'how are they gonna determine the cause of this one?' Really impressive.

But that affects only the 0.1% of the viewing audience that know the roads around Las Vegas. Me, if you said it was highway 1059.2 crossing into highway The Square Root of 4 I wouldn't know the difference.

The fact that it was not I-15 was really a small point and I would have easily ignored it, but all of the points added up and the sum was too much.

Yup, what he said, not being familiar with the area I totally bought it, but I could see it being a problem if I knew the area well. Not enough to declare the show "jumping the shark" but just enought o bug me.

They don't just throw their hands up and say, "It was an accident and that's why it crashed."
