A great sub for the money IMHO is Velodyne. You can get this pretty cheap under $400 esp if you purchase it from the internet .
When I put it up against my friend's 1.2k + sunfire, don't see nearly enough difference to justify the price difference, except for the amazingly small size of the sunfire.
